Privacy policy
The short version: we collect no personal data directly, have no accounts, and show no ads. We do use Google Analytics to count visits, which sets cookies in your browser (details below).
What we collect
Directly: nothing. There are no accounts, no comment forms, no newsletters, and no advertising pixels. Reading this site does not require telling us who you are. The one measurement tool we use is described under Analytics below.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic. When you load a page, Google’s tag sets first-party cookies and sends Google information such as the page viewed, referrer, approximate location, browser and device type, and your IP address (which Google Analytics 4 does not log or store). We use the resulting reports in aggregate to see which pages people read; we do not try to identify individual visitors. Google processes that data under its privacy policy. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts or cookies in your browser; the site works the same either way.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare processes connection data (IP addresses, request URLs, user agents) to deliver pages and defend against abuse, under its own policies. We do not receive or store those logs ourselves.
If you email contact@cleanonpaper.com (for a correction, say) we receive your address and message and use them only to respond and to fix what you reported. Correction emails may be kept as an editorial record; ask and we will delete yours.
YouTube embeds
Some pages include videos. They render as a static thumbnail until you
press play; nothing loads from Google before that. When you click, the player loads
from youtube-nocookie.com (YouTube’s reduced-tracking mode) and
from that point Google’s privacy
policy and terms apply to your interaction with the player. Don’t click,
and Google never hears about your visit from us.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets analytics cookies (typically named _ga and
_ga_ followed by an identifier) that distinguish visits and sessions. The
site sets no other cookies. If you would rather not have them, block them in your
browser or use the opt-out above. If you are in a region that requires consent for
analytics cookies and want to raise a concern, write to
contact@cleanonpaper.com.
Advertising not currently active
There is currently no advertising and no ad technology on the site. If advertising is ever enabled, this section will be updated before it goes live to describe exactly what the ad provider collects, and the change will be dated at the top of this page. Until then, no ad networks receive anything about your visit.
Your rights
Since we hold essentially no personal data, most data-rights requests will have a short answer, but you are always welcome to ask what we have (likely: your email, if you wrote to us) and to request its deletion. Residents of jurisdictions with privacy laws (PIPEDA and BC PIPA in Canada, GDPR in Europe, and others) can exercise their rights via contact@cleanonpaper.com.
Changes
Changes to this policy appear on this page with an updated date. Material changes get a note on the about page as well.
